Most of the Port Nelson and Tasman Bay Pilots, including the pilot of the T.A. Explorer when it grounded, have completed some form of tug familiarisation. The issue was discussed at the meeting on 16 July, and a schedule drawn up for initiating and/or completing tug familiarisation as required.
