The Commission is assisting the Australian Transport Safety Bureau’s investigation of an incident involving a Gippsland Aeronautics GA-8 aircraft, registration VH-LHC.
The reported circumstances were that on 25 August 2025 the aircraft was approaching Djarindjin/Lombadina airport in Western Australia. The pilot observed a lack of response from normal throttle inputs. The airspeed then increased resulting in a go-around. During the climb out, the engine failed to produce full power and the pilot conducted a partial power turnback before landing.
The investigation by ATSB is continuing. TAIC has opened this inquiry “for the purpose of cooperating and coordinating with another accident investigation organisation, including taking evidence on their behalf“ under section 8(2)(e) of the Transport Accident Investigation Commission Act 1990.
Please note, TAIC will not be producing a report for this inquiry. All questions should be directed to ATSB.
